    Project Overview
Management Alternatives (M/A) provided Relocation Assistance and Coordination (RAC) Services for the Pentagon during its renovation of Wedge 1. This project involved the planning and implementation of moves into multiple swing space locations and back into the newly renovated Pentagon.

M/A developed the overall Pentagon Renovation Concept Move Plan, which addressed each increment of the building renovation and established the relocation process that guided all renovation-related relocations. We prepared and executed the renovation Move Schedule for each of the milestones identified in the Concept Move Plan. We served as the Renovation Program representative to the affected tenant points of contact. During each physical move, we provided on-site supervision, prepared the Post-Move Punch List, monitored the resolution of Punch List items and provided closeout reports for each individual move.

    Writing the Rules of Engagement
The Pentagon houses the heads of the U.S. Services and Defense Agencies responsible for national security. In planning renovations, moving and construction activities, clear communication and coordination of all activities were imperative to avoid disruption of mission-critical activities. M/A conducted briefings for affected Pentagon tenants, the Pentagon Renovation and Planning Office and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Regular working-level meetings were also conducted with the Information Systems and Telecommunications Program Office, user groups, WHS (Building Management), DTS-W (Telecommunications), DPS (Security), DSS-W (Procurement) and outside vendors.

The size of the facility, the number of employees it housed and the volume of furniture and equipment presented unique scheduling and implementation challenges. We prepared an Egress Study, which outlined the most efficient routes for renovation and relocation activities to minimize disruption to Pentagon tenants and ensure access for project activities. We developed the Relocation Data Sheet, a tool used to collect relevant information from each end user—required for move preparation. We developed a delivery checklist to record the pre-move and post-move conditions of products and the building and to help facilitate precise assessment of damage claims.

M/A wrote the scope of services for procurement of moving and specialty contractors for the relocation and storage of furniture, furnishings, artwork and artifacts, and developed independent government estimates for each task order.
